Raiders of the Lost Disco

So here's something that floated to the top of my head yesterday. Does anyone know anything about this fourth Indiana Jones movie that supposedly in development? Considering the rapid fossiliation of Harrison Ford, it occurs to me that they are going to have to set the movie in a time frame that would make Indy about 75 years old. That would mean the movie would have to take place in the 70s. Do you think the Nazis were really behind oil crisis?

Unforgivable "Classics"

OK, so, I haven't seen "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" since I was in middle school, and I didn't remember a ton about it, but what I specifically didn't remember about it is that it sucks. All I can say in defense of Jimmy Stewart is that not until Dustin Hoffman in Rain Main was an autistic man again played so convincingly.

What gives that anyone considers this movie a classic? This movie is GOD-AWFUL. I feel like I need to go dig up Claude Raines and slap him about the face for even being involved. Perhaps I have lived too many years inside the beltway to appreciate its charms...no, wait godammit this movie is just BAD.

Any other nominees for worst "classic"?

Levels of Creep

I direct your attention to the event on May 13. I can't decide if this is creepier that the whole business with the whipped cream.

In other news, it's Cinco de Mayo. Have an O'Douls tonight in honor of Brother Skinner's birthday.

Life on the Ranch

I see there are still a few signs of life here. So that's good. Although I will say that all these film clips could use more motherfucking snakes, and the links fewer motherfucking Yankees.

Is This Blog Still Here?

I forgot all about it sometime in December. I came here hoping to see a picture of Andrew wearing a pith helmet and drinking pimms while riding an elephant. Alas, no photos. Not even any space age 3D ultrasounds of Halcyon Z. Skinner '27.

Came across this article today, and it reminded me of Mike DePaolo at the Lerners' Wedding trying to get a drink at the Tip Top Tavern. (If you need a NYT password, try "hskinner/hskinner", that's how I always get in.)

Anybody Else...

totally sick of Harrison Ford? The ads for his latest movie fill me with boredom and contempt. And did anyone see his pathetically lame Dr. Seuss-inspired prelude to the Super Bowl?

Do you really want to go down this road, Andrew?

Missed the KCRW broadcast--I will try to find a digital archive of the Man in Black radio program. Over the long weekend, I did get the chance to hang out briefly with both Lee Lerner and Ms. Martin over the break. Guinness was consumed, legal research was conducted, and marvelling at Mrs. Lerner's salt-and-pepper shaker collection occurred.

Speaking of legal research, and the responsibility-dodging safety of the passive voice, concerns have been raised that Jim Stanek may be attempting to elide an unsavory familial connection.

I will come out and ask... Jim, is this author a relation?

Regardless, I'd like to ask the Inflictor to investigate this matter to see if there is an infraction-by-association to be cited here. Liz?
