Study finds: Crankiness leads to Immortality
The usually unreliable New York Times seems to be on target here:
In Search of Good Health?
Try a Bad Attitude.
...anger can help some people manage anxiety, too. "One of the things that makes anxiety so awful is that you feel out of control," said Dr. Norem, the author of "The Positive Power of Negative Thinking" (Basic Books, 2001). "Anger is an energizing emotion. With anger you feel more in control."
Whether venting anger or maintaining a generally glum attitude has actual health benefits, however, is an open question, Dr. Norem said, although she pointed to one study that showed a correlation between cheerfulness in men and earlier mortality.
"You don't want to make too much of it," she said. "But for cranks like me, it was encouraging."

Meanwhile, on the East Coast
While Ernie was eating Chicago, Henry was soiling Middletown. He thought Wesleyan was fantastic...to poop on. Don't worry, Henry's fine; this is as close as we got to the house.

The Honeymoon is Over
Last night, Geetanjali and I returned to Baltimore from our week-long foray to exotic London. British food is not underrated. British beer is not overpraised. We managed to get to quite a few historic sites, including the Cabinet War Rooms and Sir John Soane's Museum.
And we visited with Lauren Glotzer around pub closing time--an uncivilized eleven p.m.
Thanks to all the Crankonians who went to great lengths to attend the wedding and related activities. I hope you all had something approaching the amount of fun we had. I've already seen a several dozen photos--a tiny fraction of the total--and I look forward to seeing more and hearing about all the stuff that happened when Geetanjali and I were off getting more photographs taken.
Just got hit by another wave of jetlag/postponed-exhaustion. More later...
